We are delighted to offer for sale this fine example having been acquired directly from the safe custody of the original owner. We instructed Rolex to service the watch under the new vintage restoration process.
This watch was taken to the Rolex service centre based in central London and returned to us having completed a full service to its movement, a new pexi glass, a new crown and a new extension link was fitted as well as a sympathetic and meticulous refurbishment of the case and bracelet. The work came to a total of £1,483.20
We are delighted to offer for sale this Rolex Explorer 1655 pre-owned in excellent condition, work completed having been sympathetically restored, serviced by Rolex in April 2026 and it remains unworn since.
This particular piece dates to 1981 features a Mk4 dial and Mk5 bezel, perfectly aligned with its serial. The original 78360/580 Oyster bracelet, stamped F for 1981 is presented with full links as supplied when first new. The case has been polished, but the lugs remain nice and full. The tritium markers and hands have aged to a stunning pale white tone.
This particular watch is supplied as shown in the detailed images with both of the original inner and outer Rolex boxes, two original Rolex swing tags, the original Rolex Oyster manual, the original Rolex Explorer manual, the original Rolex translation booklet, the original Rolex certificate wallet and the original Rolex hole punched certificated dated Christmas Eve 1981 when first supplied new by the UK based authorised dealer. Also included is the original sales invoice as supplied by Mappin & Webb when first sold new.
Additional provenance as shown in the detailed images included with this watch is the original new style Rolex service box, the original new style Rolex service pouch, the Rolex service warranty booklet, the Rolex service warranty card dated April 2026 and the Rolex service invoice (£1,483.20).
