Terms and Conditions

Buying a watch with Rolex Watch Trader

Authenticity

Every watch which passes through Rolex Watch Trader has been authenticated by our onsite experts. On occasion we will use the expert services of a third party. All watches prior to resale are checked via one or more of the following channels: the Police, Checkmend, the Watch Register and any available assistance a manufacturer has in place to identify and recover lost or stolen watches.

Condition

We use the following scale when describing the condition of watches in stock:

  • “Brand new” – never worn, usually with stickers intact, sometimes with stickers taken off. No signs of use.
  • “Just serviced” – returned from the appropriate manufacturer’s service centre  immediately prior to being listed; usually with service stickers intact. No signs of use.
  • “Very good” – used condition with very few to no signs of wear. Might show light hazing, or a couple of tiny marks which would be difficult to see without a magnifying glass. Watches described as “very good unpolished” might show marks of use on the bracelet and clasp, but will have perfect case & glass.
  • “Good” – used condition with some light signs of wear; a few marks and scuffs to be expected. Possible very small chip or a faint scratch in the glass. Possible light marks on the bezel.
  • “Fair” – used condition with obvious signs of wear. Glass might be visibly chipped or scratched. Bezel might be noticeably marked.

Payment

We accept all the following methods of payment:

  • Cash
We accept payment in cash but if the total paid in cash exceeds £8,500 we will regrettably NOT be able to accept the payment. This is to be compliant with current money laundering law.
  • Card (Debit or Credit)
We do not accept card payments over the phone where the customer is not present. At the moment we do not accept card payments in the office. However, we do offer online card payment options, please contact us for details.
Personal debit and credit cards attract zero surcharge. Business or corporate credit cards are subject to a 2.5% surcharge on the total to cover processing costs.
  • American Express
We are able to accept this form of payment but there is a 5% surcharge on the total to cover processing costs.
  • Cheque
All cheques should be made payable to ‘Rolex Watch Trader Ltd’. We will only dispatch the goods 5 working days after the funds have cleared.
  • Bankers Draft
Should be made payable to ‘Rolex Watch Trader Ltd’. All bankers’ drafts will be verified by our bank before goods are released.
  • Bank Transfer
We accept both BACS and CHAPS payments. In the case of the customer not being present in person in our office, we will require two supporting forms of identification matching the details from the payment account sent to us via email. Please contact us for our bank details if you plan to pay via this method.

IMPORTANT: We are NOT able to accept multiple cards for purchases unless they are all registered at the same address.

Fraudulent payments

If we reasonably suspect a fraudulent payment by any means including debit or credit card, then we will not dispatch any goods and we will not carry out any refunds until authorised by our bank.

Viewing and collection of goods

Viewing or collection of goods is strictly by appointment only as the vast majority of stock is stored securely off site for security reasons. We prefer at least 24 hours notice from customers wishing to view or collect a watch, however same day appointments can be arranged if needed.

Delivery charges

We endeavour to use a next day, fully insured, tracked and signed for service. For most addresses in the UK we offer this service for free. We are also able to deliver worldwide. Please contact us for a confirmed quote.

Returns

We allow a 14-day return window for all watches purchased online. This applies from the day you received the watch. Should you wish to return the item, it must remain in the exact same condition as when it was shipped to you. For brand new watches, this includes all stickers being intact. If the watch is returned to us showing new marks, scratches or removed stickers, we may charge you up to 20% of the original sales figure to cover the resulting loss of value.

After the 14-day window, please see our warranty page.

Part exchange

Trading in your watch could not be simpler! Just contact us with the details of your piece and the item you want to trade it in for. We will be in touch shortly with our offer.

Quotes

In order to obtain a no-strings-attached quote, simply fill in our quick online form, or call us on 07765 454 585. We always aim to provide competitive estimates on all watches, and pride ourselves in our quick response time.

In-store sales

Customers are welcome to visit our Manchester city centre office to sell their watch in person. If this is something you would be interested in, please contact us in advance to book an appointment. We will ask you some quick questions about your watch and usually provide a quote within minutes.

The appointments are typically no longer than 30 minutes. When you come in, we will first inspect the cosmetic condition of the watch and make sure it is in full working order. Following this, we will confirm the selling price, then ask you to sign a buying form and make the payment via bank transfer. Payments usually arrive instantly.

Postal sales

For customers who cannot travel to our office, we offer the option of selling their watch by post. All you need to do is ship your watch safely to our Manchester office via Royal Mail – we will take care of the rest! As soon as the watch arrives, we will send you a confirmation email. After a quick inspection we will provide you with a final quote. If you agree, the payment will be with you the same day. If you don’t, we will ship the watch back by a fully insured and tracked service, for arrival the following day.

Travelling to your location

We regularly travel across the mainland UK, and in particular to London, to purchase watches. Where possible we always aim to conclude all transactions face to face, and will be happy to meet you at your home or at your local branch of our bank, so that you can see the payment being made over the counter.

Payment

Most of the time, the payment is fulfilled by bank transfer. These typically arrive instantly in our customer’s accounts. Cash payment is available for in-store customers.

Privacy
