Extremely rare Rolex GMT-Master 1675 with a matte brown 'nipple' dial
We are pleased to offer for sale this rare variant of the coveted Rolex GMT model reference 1675 which has been carefully and sympathetically restored.
A very good vintage condition, chronometer rated automatic movement Rolex GMT Master, model reference 1675 also known as the Root Beer. Featuring a 40mm stainless steel and yellow gold case, housing a unique & extremely rare 'flat' matte brown dial with gold raised 'nipple' hour markers. Please note that there is a small amount of peeling of the dial coating at 6 o'clock. The dial also includes the original hands with well aged Tritium lume and a date aperture at 3 o'clock showing an unusual brushed champagne background date wheel. Surrounded by a rotating yellow gold bezel with a single colour bronze GMT bezel insert which perfectly complements the dial. Supplied on a brand new, full retail length Rolex Oyster bracelet in stainless steel & yellow gold, with a stainless steel Oysterclasp.
As with all of the watches requiring restoration work prior to resale, we sent this time-piece back to the manufacture for evaluation. Rolex Service Centre UK advised us to exchange the plexiglass, dial, hands and bracelet. As the original matte brown dial is no longer in stock, the replacement offered by Rolex was a black variant which we felt would take away the unique beauty of how the watch was originally presented when new.
In order to keep the watch as close to original as possible we declined the offer of the black dial. We did opt for a new bracelet which was supplied at a cost of £2,700. The full service was then carried out by our trusted watchmaker including replacement of plexiglass to the cost of £600.
This watch will fit up to just over 7¾" (19.7cm) wrist size without any additional links.
This watch is supplied as shown in the detailed images with the original Rolex invoice and a Rolex soft green pouch. Based on the serial number, this is an approximately 1971 watch. Please note there are some marks and dents on the case back and the sides (underneath the end links), however the serial number is still legible.
Warranty
For your peace of mind this watch is covered by a one year Rolex Watch Trader warranty valid from the point of purchase. Due to age, older watches may not fall within our typical expected tolerances for timekeeping, and are no longer suitable for use in wet environments or submersion in water.

Its always a bit daunting when dealing by post and with someone you have not previously dealt with. Sil is a good guy, one thing he said which resonates still is that his reputation is worth more to him than the money. I guess if the reputation is right the money comes after. I did a part chop, after 4-5 emails, 2 calls I have received my new watch and am VERY happy. No hard, tough or crazy negotiations, just a pleasant experience all round and a very smooth transaction - the way it should be. I have friends/relatives who have a horological fascination as I do and will be singing Sil's praises to each and every one of them as they need.
